Drunk Elephant Review
For some of us, glowing skin is in our DNA and, for others, it is a choice of a healthy lifestyle and of course, great skincare products.
I wanted to share, my personal experience with a brand called “Drunk Elephant” amusing as it sounds the mastermind behind this creative brand is Tiffany Masterson, a stay-at-home mumpreneur. The name Drunk Elephant is rooted in a myth that says the elephants love to eat the fruit that has fallen from Marula trees. Once consumed, fermentation occurs inside their large tummies and, the elephants become drunk! How does the name tie in with the products?
Virgin Marula oil, straight from the ‘pip’, can be found throughout the Drunk Elephant line. It is an oil,
Masterson believes, superior to ANY that she’s tried, due to the high content of fatty acids and antioxidants.
A little over a year ago I came across this brand at my local Mecca store and boy was I stunned with the results, before I convince you to try out this brand, let me rewind to a little over a year ago. If you know me personally, you know how much I obsess over glowing, healthy skin, and, although my skin always looked good, it did not feel that great. Wintertime was a time of dry, flaky skin, and even though I have had a strict skincare regimen for years, for some reason, my skin was still hungry for hydration.
From luxurious to drugstore skincare brands, temporarily I would achieve that ‘glow’. As time went on, the products seemed to stop working, resulting in changing products and brands.
Fast forward to today, and I am obsessed with the brand Drunk Elephant.
I started my journey with the Lala Retro – Whipped Cream, from six African-oils to plant ceramide complex, providing support by reinforcing the skins acid mantle and defending against everyday stressors. I bought the 50ml from Mecca at AUD 91.00. Initially, I started applying this moisturiser of an evening after my cleansing routine. Waking up to plump, soft and still hydrated skin was a dream. Six months in and convinced this product is now all I need. However, curious to try out some of their other products. I bought the limited edition, Firmy – The Day Kit, at AUD 151.00. If you want to try a new product/s, try and purchase the skincare kits, not only is it value for money, you get a lot more products that you can try out.
I will list each product that came in the kit, and explain to you what the benefits are for each one.
Generally, I use hyaluronic and, vitamin C on the daily and even make up my serums to save me some $$$. The C-Firma Day Serum, packed with Vitamin C. Firms and brightens skin complex and even’s skin tone and texture. This particular product makes me feel so comfortable in my skin, that I did not feel the need to apply makeup to run my daily errands.
Next, the C-Tango Multivitamin Eye Cream. Packed with Vitamin C, peptides and antioxidants, this eye cream fights free radical damage and repairs existing signs of ageing, such as discolouration and, loss of firmness. A perfect little bottle of hydration, and, a silky texture. This eye cream was quick to become a favourite of mine.
B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum, this light-weight, water-based serum, includes ingredients, Vitamin B-5, Pineapple Ceramide and, hyaluronate. (Sodium Hyaluronate, easily absorbed into pores and can penetrate deeper into layers of the skin, and, attracts and binds water.) You can mix this in with all your other Drunk Elephant serums or moisturiser to provide additional hydration.
Lastly, The D-Bronzi Anti-Pollution Sunshine Drops, enriched with rich virgin marula oil, black currant seed oil, and, Vitamin F (aka lipids). This one is sure to make you glow. Apply, on its own or with your moisturiser and, you will see instant results.
I hope this has somewhat, given you an insight into the brand Drunk Elephant and what it’s all about. Price range is a little high, but as I always mention, a little goes a long way. The price tag is worth it. So enjoy getting drunk with some additional hydration 🙂
This is my final blog post for the year! Wishing you and your loved ones a prosperous, full of great health and love in the New Year!
Happy New Year!
